Um, perhaps you could be more specific in your criticism? Rather than an "appeal to authority" that we shouldn't believe this, maybe you could say why you think it is sloppy. For instance, maybe you could explain exactly what they didn't control for, as in "they say that __a__ means __b__ must have happened, but actually __c__ would be just as good of an explanation for __a__".</description>
