The game of checkers has been solved.

Interestingly, one of the writers of Chinook is working on poker, according to a nytimes article about the solution of checkers. His team’s program is playing in the AAAI Man vs. Machine Poker Challenge at AAAI-07. Here’s the link to the University of Alberta
